1) Take care of your volunteer items.

The first three items are done once per volunteer, while the last two are done in 1 or 2 year intervals.  Loosely, every Girls Travel Volunteer (18+) needs the following:

  • A Registration on Marlboro Youth Soccer website
  • A Registration on Mass Youth Soccer website
  • A CORI Check performed
  • Complete a 30 min Concussion course (Certificate)
  • Complete a 30-90 min Safe Sport Course

Full process is defined here:
Adult Registration Process

2) Do your preseason items

As a coach, the first couple of weeks before the season starts can be hectic.  Here is a list of some of the more important items to focus on:

Gender / Grade / Div / Sect. Coach BAYS Team Schedule Practice Clinic
Girls 3 4/C Segrin Panthers Wed - 5:30-6:30 Tue - 6:30-7:30
Girls 4 4/D Morales Panthers Coach Determined Tue - 6:30-7:30
Girls 5 4/A2 Dupont Panthers Coach Determined Tue - 6:30-7:30
Girls 8 4/B Barnum Panthers Coach Determined Coach Determined
Girls 8 4/D Lucas Panthers Coach Determined Coach Determined

  • Email your team and say hello.  Let them know about the practice schedules, clinic schedules, and game schedules.  Find out if anyone needs a uniform.
  • Submit uniform requests to @
  • Review the Coaching Information page on Bays @ Coach Responsibilities | Boston Area Youth Soccer (bays.org)
  • Pay attention to seasonal emails about pre-season practice slots.  Season over season, we try and get indoor fields, turf fields, or even grass fields to allow coaches to have preseason practices.

Full process is defined here:
Coaches Seasonal Checklists

3) Play the Season

Do your best and have fun! If you need help with practices or game management, please let me know.  I am not running a dedicated team this season so that I can float around. Here is a collection of resources that may also prove helpful:

Adult Registration

All MYS coaches are required to register with MA Youth Soccer, pass a CORI/background check, and complete training in abuse prevention and concussions. After completing these steps I'll be able to print your coaching credentials, which you'll need to present to referees before all games and have with you at all times when you're on the field.

  • If you coached with MYS in the Fall... Then you've already completed these steps and are cleared to join your team! Please let me know if you need another copy of your credential card.
  • For new MYS coaches... Instructions for completing the adult registration process can be found on our website at http://www.marlboroyouthsoccer.org/Page.asp?n=121256.

Please follow the help guides carefully. Most problems occur when a step in the help guide is missed. If you've coached with MYS before, you'll want to follow the Returning User Help Guide. New coaches should use the New User Help Guide.

I expect that rosters will be published in our website by the end of the upcoming weekend. Stefan has already finalized rosters for our Girls BAYS teams and Lori and Henry are putting the final touches on the Boys side. If you have any questions about your roster, please reach out to the contact listed below:

  • Girls BAYS Director - Stefan Hudzikiewicz -
  • Boys BAYS Director - Lori Biernacki -
  • Boys Grade 7/8 - Henry Garcia (VP/Registrar) -

Our Board of Directors has approved indoor time for preseason practices for all teams at ForeKicks. I have provided our list of teams and coaches to ForeKicks and you can contact the facility directly (508-624-4433) to book an hour of practice time on a 7v7 field. You are strongly encouraged to share your field with another team in your age group. By sharing fields, each team should be able to hold two practices. Our Board may authorize additional time (if ForeKicks has availability) and is also working with the City to secure additional time on turf fields.

Codes of Conduct

For the Spring season... the MA Youth Soccer Board of Directors is requiring all member organziations (including MYS) to adopt a new Zero Tolerance Policy and Codes of Conduct for Players, Coaches, Parents/Spectators, and Referees. I have copied all policies to the MYS website and they're available via the links below. The Player's Code of Conduct lists penalties for violations of the Code... which may be helpful for any coaches who are dealing with discipline issues. Zero Tolerance will be a point of emphasis for BAYS referees this season, so please make sure that you understand your responsibilities. We simply can't have games without referees. Many are young and/or inexperienced... ALL of them deserve our full support!

Other Notes from BAYS

  • Please remember to reach out to your opponents each week to exchange contact information and confirm game specifics (time, location, parking, uniform colors, etc.)
  • Many towns are dealing with referee shortages, so BAYS has authorized coaches to step in and referee, as needed. Ideally, this is something that your opponents will discuss with you in the week leading up to your game.
  • Schedules for all teams will be posted to the BAYS website on March 21st. You can check our opponents in your Division/Section at https://bays.org/bays/placement/4/2

That's it for now... We'll share more information as it becomes available. Thanks again for helping to provide a safe and supportive environment for our kids!
